Startup Idea Every Day #17: Online Learning Marketplace
This is the 17th post in my series "A new startup idea every day".
There are a ton of people making a lot of money selling their personal knowledge online, from eBooks to webinars, it's not hard to come across an "expert" selling some information. What if there was a company that allowed people to setup their own online education, like what Etsy does for homemade goods, except for webinars, chat rooms, screencasts, etc.
Why would this be better than what's already available? Well one reason it would be an improvement from the status quo is that you could integrate a review system, where users can give star based reviews to educators that will determine the quality of their class. Another improvement is that now, people know where to look when they want expert information and professional training.
Don't misconstrue the intention of the idea, this is only for people who are looking to buy/sell business education materials. By and large, I believe education should be free, but finding qualified educators in the field of marketing, social media, and other business related fields can be very difficult, and it's never free.
